Charlotte Youth Cheer For Breast Cancer Awareness

During the month of October, the Chris Canty Foundation joins numerous other organizations nationwide in support of breast cancer awareness. This annual campaign was instituted to increase awareness of the disease. Everyone is aware of breast cancer, still many of us forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages. Even more discouraging is the fact that we forget to encourage others to do the same. While cancer awareness organizations and medical centers around the world have made a lot of progress, we still have a long way to go. In 2009, more than 200,000 women and 2,000 men in the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. From those numbers, more than 40,000 women and 400 men in the United States died from breast cancer. Sadly, these numbers continue to grow.

On October 23, 2013 the Chris Canty Foundation will join Avon for their breast cancer walk. Local Youth will particpate in the event as volunteers in support of the Foundations team walking for a cure. For more information about on how to get involved visit AVON BREAST CANCER WALK. We hope you will walk with us in support of those who lost their lives to cancer, are currently battling cancer, or are taking preventive measures to avoid the risk of developing cancer.
